About
Hey there, I'm Christoph Sawyer.
Not Chris.
Not Christopher.
Just Christoph.
Christoph Sawyer (he/they) is a collaborative photographer and material artist based in Purchase, NY. Their practice explores contemporary queer intimacies and archival research by transforming photographs into tactile objects through laser-engraving onto acrylic, fabric, wood, and watercolor paintings. This material transformation invites physical engagement, mirroring the intimacies documented. Recent work includes collaborative photography at MMX (Chelsea, NYC) and multi-year archival research on photographer George Daniell (1911-2002). They completed Queer Perspectives at the International Center of Photography (2025) and attended Haystack Mountain School of Crafts (2023). Recent exhibitions include “Drawn from Life 2025: Identity” (Upstream Gallery) and "Radical Joy" (Riverfront Art Gallery). They graduated from Purchase College-SUNY in 2017.
